DeepSea-Rov

What is DeepSea-ROV?

A ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) is an underwater vehicle controlled from a remote surface location, used for maintenance, installation, exploration, recovery and mine clearance, in deep waters or in shallow waters, in areas such as: offshore, shipbuilding, military, underwater archeology.

DeepSea-ROV is a virtual training system for pilots of ROV, based on SimSuite4, which allows users to learn how to command and control a ROV in navigation and in carrying out its typical activities in the main operational areas.

Why is DeepSea-ROV for you?
System

The system was created to teach a ROV pilot to to become familiar with the vehicle eliminating the costs of exercises at sea and the risk of causing damages. DeepSea-ROV can simulate the characteristics and behavior of any ROV in standard operational scenarios or ad-hoc scenarios based on individual customer needs. In DeepSea-ROV, the simulation of the main characteristics of the underwater environment such as, for example, undercurrents, low visibility conditions or obstacles affect the operations of the ROV.

Scenarios

It is displayed on two screens that reproduce, respectively, the simulation of the picture produced by the ROV camera and sonar. The image from the camera ROV is the operational scenario of the "mission" that can be set in shallow or deep waters, clear or muddy waters, with rocky, sandy or muddy seabed, located in realistic geographical sites such as: harbor, coastal, open sea and offshore.

Operability
Controlling

The piloting of the ROV and its equipment takes place by giving commands by means a real ROV console connected to the system or a set of suitable input devices for PC. The control takes place in a realistic way, compliant to maneuvering and work features of the ROV, including action on undercurrents and cable control on traction. Moreover, a workstation for the man at the winch for the umbilical cable is available and it is provided of an operating console having a control panel with push buttons, handles and sticks. A monitor displays the 3D scene viewed through the camera and the data returned from the winch control device.

Training

The training sessions are aimed at achieving sequential goals through the execution of predefined operations. Each session ("Mission") allows you to: select a goal to achieve, set an operating scenario, create "groups" of users who will have to work individually or in teams It is also possible assign each user a ROV or a winch, Modify the functional parameters of the selected ROV model, turn on, during the course of a mission, "unforeseen" situations such as malfunctioning to the equipment, changes in the intensity and direction of the undercurrents, decreasing of visibility, changes of the operating scenario.

How can you have DeepSea-ROV?

ROV-RT is distributed by BK under license, including the standard missions with operational scenarios corresponding to the selected ROV class. On request, it can be provided as follows: additional modules for the other available ROV classes, special scenarios created according to characteristics as specified by customer.
